Some IPTV services hand you credentials that work anywhere. Others only work inside their own application. The difference costs nothing while everything is running and everything when it is not.
Portable lines versus app-tied ones
A portable line is a server address, a username and a password. Any standard player accepts it, so the app is a preference and nothing more. An app-tied line only authenticates inside one piece of software – and if that software is withdrawn from a store, stops receiving updates or is not available on your next device, the subscription is stranded with it.
How to tell which one you are buying
Ask one question before paying: will these credentials work in another player. The answer is short and it is definitive.
Portable: you are given a server URL, a username and a password
Portable: or a playlist link you can paste anywhere
Tied: you are given a code that only the seller's app accepts
Tied: setup instructions name exactly one application
Tied: support cannot tell you what your server address is
Why it matters more than it sounds
Devices change. Apps get pulled. A stick dies and its replacement runs a different store. With a portable line none of that touches your subscription; with a tied one, any of it can end it early.

The recovery is the same as always. Install a standard player on the device you own and enter a portable line. Nothing else needs replacing.
